Caregivers are the experts

You know the realities of caregiving because you live them. Your questions, experiences, and ideas help shape the Cafe and keep what we offer connected to what caregivers and older adults actually need.

Your lived experience is where we start. ARC builds on that by bringing in reliable information and connecting you with health and social services professionals, legal professionals, trusted partners, and community organizations from across the Montérégie and beyond.

Support, information, and connection

Our health and wellness topics are developed and delivered by professionals from the health and social services system, with practical information you can use in everyday life. We also explore planning ahead, navigating services, legal matters, and the difficult transitions that can come with caregiving.

We put thought into the mix, balancing practical learning with opportunities to connect, create, and enjoy the morning. Some Wednesdays may introduce you to a professional or community resource you didn’t know about. Other mornings may make more room for conversation, music, creativity, or simply spending time with people who understand. There’s always coffee and morning refreshments, and we keep listening to what caregivers tell us they need.

If you’re not sure where to turn, we can also help connect you with English-language services and community resources.

Knowledge keepers

There’s no one type of caregiver. You may be new to caregiving, have years of experience to share, or be finding your way after your caregiving role has ended. You don’t need to fit a particular definition to belong here.

Former caregivers are valued Knowledge Keepers in our community. Their experience and perspective matter, and when they choose to share what they’ve learned, it can help someone else who is finding their way. They’re also always welcome to come back for the people, the conversations, and the sense of connection they’ve found here.

There’s no expectation to share or participate in a certain way. Bring your questions and experiences if you want to, or just have a coffee and see where the morning takes you.

It started with one guest

Caregivers Cafe started with one curious guest. Since then, it has grown into a thriving community where caregivers connect, share what they know, and help shape what comes next.

What happens around the table reaches beyond the Cafe. ARC caregivers are using their experience to speak up about what matters, advocate for themselves and others, and help us better understand the needs of our English-speaking caregiving community.

We’ve listened, adapted, and kept investing in what we offer, because what you do matters to us.

Let ARC show up for you

You spend so much of your time showing up for others. On Wednesdays, there’s a place for you, too.

We know caregiving doesn’t follow a predictable schedule, so there’s no weekly commitment. Come when you can, for what you need. We’ll be happy to see you.
