Public Health Department Profile

L’Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de la Montérégie (Montérégie Public Health Agency) constitutes the regional level of governance of the Health and Social Services Network. Its mission is to ensure the co-ordination of the Montérégie’s network and thus improve its performance and contribute to an improvement in the health and well-being of the population. Concretely, the Agency must:

  • elaborate orientations and regional priorities regarding health and social services
  • ensure the integration and coherence of services and care offered
  • allocate budgets to the institutions
  • to watch over the secure delivery of services
  • to ensure that the rights of users are respected
  • exercise  the regional functions of public health
  • promote, prevent and protect the health of the people of the Montérégie
  • inform the population, decision makers, and other regional actors about their state of health and well-being
  • facilitate the deployment and the management of local service networks(CSSS)
  • allocate grants to community organizations
  • ensure the participation of the population in the management of services
  • support the development of Integrated University Health Networks(RUIS) in the different aspects of its mission
  • evaluate the performance of the Montérégie network
