Your Health: Language Matters

Where your health is concerned language matters! The Montérégie is a large multicultural region where many people do not speak French as their first language. Being able to talk about your health concerns and ask questions results in better care and improved health. The tools on this page will help you navigate the health system with more ease and confidence.

The Health Passport App is a valuable tool designed to help you and your family keep track of essential health information and also puts helpful French words and phrases at your fingertips. Community Healthy and Social Services Network (CHSSN) got its inspiration for this online application from a paper version created by Megantic English-speaking Community Development Corporation (MCDC), a community organization serving the English-speaking community of the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Québec. MCDC realized that carrying a pocket guide with basic health information and vocabulary could be helpful especially when visiting French-speaking health care professionals.

Please contact us if you’d like to receive a paper copy of the Health Passport.
